I had a theory back in the swing of SU that the very first Gems made by Sneople were not Diamonds but instead Pearls. Pearls in real life are made by oysters, an organic life form. Pearls in SU are easy to reprogram and are servile. I'd theorize that somewhere along the line, Pearls made White Diamond with hopes to better help their organic creators, but eventually White Diamond's "help" somehow made their organic creators go extinct, perhaps violently but some AI stories go in a way that the AI is so good that humans just stop reproducing, causing their own extinction. Eventually the Gem species would flourish from there.

The Amalgams/forced fusions (especially the Cluster) reminds of the "Huddle Monster" from Playdead's _Inside._ In the later parts of the game, you get to see more and more malformed "Albinos" before the Huddle reveal, and some of them look like they're amalgamations of two or more.

I really don't think Pink was selfish at all. Sure, she lied to run away from her responsibility of being a diamond, a full on war raged and countless gems were shattered, but she did all that for humans, for earth. she valued life - life that can grow and change, unbound to anyone else's will. Since she saw what gem production was doing to that life on earth, she just couldn't bare to keep watching it. Earth was Pink's last straw, her tipping point, to give the earth back to humans. That's not selfish.

In my opinion I feel like the best answer is she's morally gray and she was intended to be morally gray and make the viewer think which they clearly accomplished since even years later people still debate over whether or not Rose / pink diamond is a bad person. A lot of people seem to forget or purposely leave out how pink diamond / Rose was an abuse victim and face abuse and neglect from her other fellow diamonds and felt inadequate and useless and how that can play into her immaturity and decisions and also her being a diamond and just a lack of understanding of lots of things in general like emotion and relationships and etc. And I personally believe she wasn't intentionally malicious or evil in her actions and just really didn't understand the situation she was in and the decision she made and how that would affect other people and the situation around her. Also I really like how Steven universe makes it very clear a lot of the characters are victims but they are never the "perfect victim" stereotype and how a lot of them are victims of trauma in one way or the other but aren't completely innocent perfect people either and have also hurt and affected other people. And I feel like it's something really important for people to see and understand since not every victim is a completely innocent flawless person and like you see in future with Steven their trauma can make them act out and hurt the people they love and don't realize it. If all of that makes sense. And back to the point I feel like morally gray fits pink diamond/Rose perfectly since she's had many actions that are good and bad and selfless and selfish and honestly out of all the four diamonds pink and blue are probably my favorites and blue probably being the only one who could have a successful redemption arc and pink if her actual character was still around.

My favorite autistic representation has to be Donatello from Rise Of the TMNT. It's realistic, his autism is never showed in a negative light or as a character flaw. His brothers don't treat him badly because of it, in facts they adjust to help him better. He is shown to have a very monotone voice, hate slimy textures, stim, and hyper fixate on things. And again, his brothers never make fun of him for it. I, and many others, find him extremely relatable, and he is definitely one of the best autistic representations out there.

Spinel is so real, I remember as a child, I had like an older friend who was playing w me every day at school, we usually had a hiding spot where I wait for her to come to me so we could play or talk, then suddenly one day when I came to her, she pushed me away and acted like she didn't know me. Since I was a child, I was confused. I thought she was having a bad day, so I waited in our usual hiding spot, I waited until school was over, and night came, luckily officers found me because of my voice since I kept whispering her name (my "friend's" name) bc my mum called the police. After that, I never let go of people or friends.

I don't understand the people who expected the endgame to be shattering the diamonds or something similar send Steven universe's main theme is solving things through empathy and understanding and not conflict and violence and something like shattering the diamonds would go directly against one of the show's biggest themes. And also like plenty of people have said a lot of kids could see their parents or a bully or someone they don't like in the diamonds and having a end game like that could give kids the belief that everything should be solved through violence or hurt the people that hurt them. Also like you said gems wouldn't be able to be uncorrupted and the fallout of shattering the diamonds would probably take at least another series or two to tie up everything and also how this would make Stevens mental health in future so much worse and that it just doesn't fit with any of the themes of the show at all... And it's a children's show so it would be a very bold move to make the endgame shattering the diamonds and let's all be honest if the creators of Steven universe decided to make the endgame shattering the diamonds there would still be so many people that would be angry about it and unsatisfied. Honestly I feel like this direction they went with the diamonds is probably the best one they could have made since shattering them would go against the themes of the show and would be quite dark I'm sad since there would be thousands of gems shattered or corrupted that can't be fixed and also an ending like all of the diamonds being in some jail or bubbled wouldn't really make sense story wise since throughout the series they are said to be the most powerful beings in the Galaxy that they are aware of. And honestly I don't think it mattered what ending Rebecca and her crew went with people were still going to be unsatisfied or complain. Edit: Also not to mention how it's much easier to picture an ending where Steven reasons and talks with the diamonds and tries to change their ways and end the conflict rather than Steven shattering the diamonds when they're said to be the most powerful beings in the Galaxy that they are aware of.

In my opinion I honestly feel like the only diamond that could be successfully redeemed is blue since she seems like the only diamond who is really trying to change her ways and do better and seemed to instantly accept it and they could probably do a redemption arc with her grief and loss of pink and just in general I feel like she's the diamond who could probably have the most successful redemption arc.

Gems are not naturally born... nor are they naturally evolving. They are created with injectors. They are programed, pre-programmed following a strict cast system knowing their "duty" the moment they are born. even the diamonds are programed to follow their duty and not doing so causes them problems... they can't even understand or conseve of things out side of their program. given their programing and views... its likely they were created for war, maybe as a last ditch effort, where injectors would be fired at an alien planet... dig in, span gems that would expand out making more of themselves, draining the life from the planet till it shatters, then they send their "spore" off to new worlds... Gems generally don't like or see biologicals as useful... don't understand farming plants or animals... so again... that shows that was never a part of their programing and likely was kept out of it by their creators.

I’d like to think that White Diamond herself used to be an organic being who made the gems. The other diamonds and the nobility gems are all parts of her while the lower ranked gems (and some of the nobility) are based off the people she has known for her life. She probably created metals before deleting all of them except bismuth. Whom she decided will be builders for nobility.

In the Drill episode; as Peridot was attempting to continue to drill and maintain balance while drilling The Cluster, Steven began to hallucinate and couldn’t breathe (almost as if he was having a panic attack). It was the first time his skin began to become pink as well. I squeal (unhappily) every single time I see it when rewatching that episode because it shows the trauma got to Steven at an early age too. The poor boy was hurting so much and even though he told everyone he was ‘fine’, he was actually scared.

For me it felt like... Really "easy" separating Hiccup and Toothless, if you get what I mean... Especially when Hiccup almost trained the Light Fury... I mean... At the end she saved him and let him touch her... She was trained at the end... Also I hate the fact that in the homecoming when Toothless draw Hiccup and the Light Fury saw it she literally rolled her eyes in disappointment? I mean come on, HE SAVED YOU AND TOOTHLESS! The production said that they were "too tired" from the series and needed it to stop because the animation were difficult to do. Only to bring us the "Dragons: the Nine Realms" series next, which in my opinion is just a copy of httyd, the same things happen, with different characters... We need the old series back (Dragons: Riders of Berk & Dragons: Race to the Edge)

I know what's way late, but I would like to add an extra detail. If you work with computers, you'll be aware of the difference between a user account and an admin account. The important part here is that an admin can set restrictions and limitations on the device that an average user can't reasonably override. If you have someone accidentally breaking things, the first thing you do is you *revoke their access*. That would be a useful feature in a situation like what you describe. With a few commands, White Diamond could turn Rose into a *user* of white pearl, but ensure that White Pearl would be able to disregard harmful orders, or even report back if needed. Then you take White Pearl who has broken. The equivalent here would likely be a server with a runaway process. What do you do with one of those? You step in as admin and shut down the runaway process via means not available to non-admin users. Given that Pink Pearl is not White Pearl at the point of breaking, that's really gonna require forcibly gaining control. That... can be a rough process sometimes.

In the episode where The gems fuse to fight malachite, Steven goes to sleep and takes control of two random melon stevens. That’s pretty creepy. We also see Steven possessing a melon Steven and it just falls to the ground and it looks like it’s having a mental breakdown and than it just loses control. I wonder how it feels?

this theory that gems grow with incubation has been proven wrong in the episode "Now We're Only Falling Apart" when it is confirmed that amethist from crystal gems has been considered defective due to her staying in the ground for too long - therefore, the incubation process lasting too long can lead to defects.

It just felt more like a soap opera than an actual cartoon. Of course no two shows are the same, but I feel like so much more could’ve been explored about the world and characters origins, but it just ended up about relationship drama.
